Aged Care your life at The Royce

Feeling a little daunted about your options when it comes to aged care homes? Don’t worry – it’s a very normal state of mind! Recognising when it’s the right time to put your complete care and wellbeing needs in professional hands is no easy feat.

But we believe this challenging transition can also bring about positive, profound and life-changing experiences. By choosing The Royce as your aged care provider, we’ll ensure safety, comfort and community become a part of your everyday as we work to deliver your optimal health – mind, body and spirit.

But what happens before that?

Here are five common questions we come across:

WHAT’S A SIMPLE WAY TO DESCRIBE AN AGED CARE HOME?

Aged care homes are created specifically for people to live in and be professionally cared for. Think of them as places where older people can be supported and looked after around the clock when they can no longer live independently in their own homes. The term covers those who live full-time in an aged care home but also people that are being cared for in the home on a temporary basis. This is referred to as residential respite care.

ARE AGED CARE HOMES FUNDED BY THE GOVERNMENT?

Yes. In order for aged care homes to receive funding (thus lowering the fees you may be asked to pay), they must be approved by the Australian Government and comply with certain accreditation standards.

However, privately funded accommodation options including retirement villages may also be approved to provide Government-funded aged care services to residents – such as home care packages. These accommodation options do not require Government approval to operate.

WHAT TYPE OF CARE IS PROVIDED?

At The Royce, the complete care and wellbeing needs of yourself or a loved one are our first priority. We will look after your accommodation, meals and social activities. In addition, our highly skilled registered nurses and care staff will also attend to your personal care needs, bathing, medication management and nursing services. The Royce Aged Care also provides a range of onsite allied health services including physiotherapy and podiatry.

The Royce Aged Care can also support residents with more specialised needs including palliative care and memory support. We provide memory support through two effective approaches: An integrated approach is designed for residents with early signs and symptoms of dementia. Meanwhile, our dedicated neighbourhood is equipped to provide more specialist dementia care in a safe and stimulating environment.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR CARE IN AN AGED CARE HOME?

People eligible for care within an aged care home include older people who can no longer live independently within their own home. Additionally, younger people with a disability, or care needs that can’t be fulfilled through other specialist channels may also be eligible.

HOW DO I APPLY?

The first step is to call My Aged Care (1800 200 422) to organise an assessment of your current circumstances and needs. This is carried out by your local Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) member who will visit your home to chat through your situation and determine the care solution that’s right for you.

If you are approved for entry into an aged care home, it’s time to work out the cost involved with your move into an aged care home as this amount can vary from one person to the next. For more information on care costs, please contact us directly on 02 4744 600 or click here to visit the My Aged Care website.
