• 19000m3 of concrete in the structure or approximately 2710 truck loads of concrete.

The Royce celebrated a key milestone in the construction of Stage 2 (Thursday 28th October), with a traditional ‘topping out’ ceremony. The topping out marks leading construction company Richard Crooks reaching the highest point in the landmark development in the Panthers Precinct.

Maurice Tulich, Owner and Managing Director at The Royce laid a final section of concrete on the top floor of the building, alongside Ambassador for the development Royce Simmons, and Martin Patience, General Manager Aged Care & Retirement Living, Richard Crooks.

Maurice said: “It is hard to believe that only a few months ago, we marked the official start of the construction work for Stage 2. It is incredibly exciting to be here today to celebrate the extraordinary progress of the building and the achievement of Richard Crook’s fantastic construction team.”

“When Stage 2 of The Royce is completed, the development will offer the community additional state-of-the-art facilities and services including wellness rooms, a hairdresser and a spa. And for residents and their families a private members-only bar and a media room.”

Martin Patience said: “Richard Crookes has a track record and ethos of working closely with Aged Care and Retirement Living providers to deliver high-quality facilities that are well-constructed and focus on enhancing the consumer experience. We are delighted to be an integral part of this important landmark for Penrith City.”

Construction of The Royce development commenced in March 2018. Stage 1 opened in September 2019 and stage 2 is due to open in September 2020. Designed by award-winning Sydney-based architects Calderflower, The Royce, when completed, will feature 136 apartments, 128 aged care suites, beautifully landscaped courtyard gardens and rooftop terraces. Celebrity Chef Ross Dobson has recently opened Cafe Royce which is quickly becoming the place to be seen. In addition, amenities will also include physio rooms, The Royce Hair Salon and members-only bar.

Maurice said: “Even though this has been a concept that I have wanted to develop for many years, and there have been many nerve-wracking moments, to see stage 2 finally rising from the ground fills me with pride, delight, and excitement.”
