During NAIDOC Week, The Royce residents embraced the rich cultural heritage of Aboriginal Australians through a series of special activities. The week featured a traditional smoking ceremony, where residents participated in the ancient custom of burning native plants to produce smoke. This practice is used to cleanse and ward off bad spirits, symbolizing healing and a deep connection to the land.
In addition to the smoking ceremony, residents also took part in a symbolic Aboriginal art workshop. This workshop was a wonderful opportunity to showcase and create meaningful pieces of art, each representing elements of Aboriginal culture, stories, and connection to the land. The residents loved experiencing these cultural ceremonies and workshops, fostering a deeper appreciation and understanding of Aboriginal heritage.
NAIDOC Week at The Royce was a celebration of tradition, community, and the enduring connection to the land, leaving everyone involved with a greater respect for Aboriginal culture.
