Tony Ferguson, a longtime resident of Penrith, has been honoured for his dedicated support and contributions to both the Panthers Club and the health industry, where he introduced groundbreaking weight loss solutions nationwide. In the 1980s and 1990s, Tony’s well-known baby club was a go-to for many Penrith families. Even now, people continue to reminisce about it fondly.
Now residing at The Royce in Penrith, Tony’s remarkable journey is filled with achievements that have left a lasting impact.
Born in 1935 in Orange, NSW, Tony grew up in the small country town of Gulargambone. He attended Waverley College for high school before pursuing a degree in Pharmacy at Sydney University. After beginning his career as a pharmaceutical sales representative, he eventually established himself in the pharmacy industry. In 1973, he moved to Penrith and started working in a small pharmacy on High Street before purchasing a much larger one nearby.
In 2006, Tony launched his weight loss business, which rapidly expanded to over 150 locations across Australia in partnership with the Terry White Pharmacy group. His appearances on A Current Affair and various news programs helped propel the business to become Australia’s number one weight loss program.
Throughout his career, Tony maintained a strong connection with the Penrith Panthers, with his business serving as a back-of-jersey sponsor for four years. His support extended beyond sponsorship, as he also provided strapping tapes and medications for the team for many years.
Beyond his professional and sporting contributions, Tony is a devoted family man. He is the proud father of Chris, Simone, Anthony, and Ben, and a loving grandfather to Lawson, Hannah, Ethan, Ryan, Keira, and Mitchell. Recently, Tony and his family were joined by members of the Panthers board as he was honoured with a special numbered Life Member jacket, recognising his outstanding dedication to the club over the years.
Tony’s legacy spans both the sports and health industries, leaving a profound impact on the Penrith community and beyond.
