It was a true show of community spirit on Thursday 13 April, where residents, staff and friends came together in the name of raising money for Royce Simmons’ foundation and Royce’s Big Walk.
In anticipation of the start of Royce’s Big Walk next Tuesday, our community was invited to come dressed in their best to walk, run or dance their way around The Royce Courtyard. Every lap completed raised money to be donated to Royce’s Foundation in support of raising dementia awareness and research in Australia.
For those cheering from the sideline, there was still plenty of fun to be had. Official Royce’s Big Walk jerseys and other merchandise was sold on the day, and face painting brought a smile to both kids and adults.
After the walk, everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch together. Cater Care kindly sponsored the barbecue lunch, while Ross Dobson and the team at Café Royce generously donated $2 to Royce’s Foundation for every plate of scones with jam sold.
As Gold Sponsors of Royce’s Big Walk for a second year running, The Royce team was thrilled to be able to host this event. Royce, Lianne and the Simmons family are valued and much loved members of our community, and it was wonderful to see everyone come together in support.
We are thrilled to say that as a result of this event, $10,000 was donated to Royce’s Foundation. A wonderful effort by all. Thank you to everyone involved in delivering this truly special event.
