Remembrance Day at The Royce

November 22, 2021

With several veterans living as part of The Royce community, Remembrance Day (Thursday, November 11) is one of the most significant dates of commemoration in the year.

An official day to honour those who have died or suffered in wars, conflicts or peace operations, Remembrance Day at The Royce was marked with a traditional commemorative service.

A group of residents came together in the courtyard for the gathering. Each were given Poppies handcrafted by The Royce residents Lyn & Sandra Walker during their time in lockdown.

With commencement of formalities, Brian Stokes read the Ode and a traditional one minutes’ silence was observed at 11am AEDT to remember the bravery and sacrifice of the men and women who lost their lives while serving Australia and its allies in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations. Ralph Forsythe was given the honour of raising the Australian flag, and a group veteran photo was taken by the flagpole at the end of the service.

Thank you to everyone who attended, and to The Royce’s social committee for organising this growing annual event.
